“Thank You Next” – As for the latest news, Ariana Grande drops from this years’ Grammy Awards performance.
According to multiple sources, she felt “insulted” when the producers of the show didn’t agree with her song selection. Reports say Ariana Grande was all about performing her latest single “7 Rings,” but the Grammys was not.
The singer retweeted an Associated Press report Thursday in which Grammys executive producer Ken Ehrlich was quoted as saying that Ariana “felt it was too late for her to pull something together.” Well, apparently, Ariana doesn’t feel that that’s what happened.
“i offered 3 different songs. it’s about collaboration. it’s about feeling supported,” she went on. “it’s about art and honesty. not politics. not doing favors or playing games. it’s just a game y’all.. and i’m sorry but that’s not what music is to me … Hope that helps everyone understand my decision. i am still grateful for the acknowledgement this year.”
This isn’t the first time the Grammys has been slammed for failing to give artists creative control. Last year, Lorde pulled the plug on her performance when she wasn’t able to sing her own song during the ceremony.
But Lady Gaga, Dua Lipa, Travis Scott, Mark Ronson (and Miley Cyrus?), Camila Cabello and more are all expected to perform live. Post Malone will take the stage with the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
