There are dozens of common genres of EDM and we call them as subgenres.
Here Dance is the catch phrase for all types of dance music . The most outstanding attribute of this type of music is its digital origin , ground breaking synths and the heart catching melodies .
In the late 80s and 90s the emergence of raving and pirate radios and the emergence of interest of the club culture, EDM achieved a large spread mainstream popularity . Then there was a perceived association between EDM and drug culture which led government at state and city level to enact laws and policies intended to halt the spread of rave culture.
Apparently in the 20th century the popularity of EDM increased globally divided among its sub genres House , Techno , Trance , Drum & Bass , Dubstep , Deep House etc. Take a look at the common genres of EDM.
Dubstep is the one of the more recognized sub-genres of EDM music. The best way to recognize Dubstep track or mix is by reverberating sub-bass that is present in common productions. It’s generally instrumental. And those tracks are typically higher in BPM( Beats per minutes), ranging between 138 – 142 BPM.

Trap is style of Electronic Dance Music and is well known for having hip – hop inspired beats. It is a constantly evolving sound that incorporates the use of techno, Dubstep and Dutch House with the added Roland TR-808 drum machine.

Electro House track has heavy bass and a tempo around 130 BPM. It’s an evaluation hard form of house music.

Deep house is subgenre of Electronic Dance music. It’s commonly appeared as a genre in the early 90s. The lengths of the track are usually around 7 and 10 minutes and lie between 120-130 BPM. This style of deep house music can often have an acoustic feeling.

Trance music is a form of Electronic Dance music characterized by hypnotic rhythms and sounds. It’s a combination of many style of dance music. Generally Trance music is characterized by song tempo ranging between 110.-150 BPM. Most people expect to be feel some special feeling when they are in hypnotic trance.
