It’s been 8 years since Avicii dropped his debut track “Levels” on UMF in Miami 2011. So today let’s take a look at this iconic progressive house track.
It wouldn’t be a hyperbole to call “Levels,” the career-making song for Avicii, one of the greatest EDM tracks of all time. This may be the most iconic Avicii track of all time. Since its release, “Levels” went viral with millions of plays from around the world.
Levels was officially released on 28 October 2011. It topped many charts including Sweden, USA, UK, Australia and much more.
This track contains a vocal sample from “Something’s Got a Hold on Me” by Etta James as written by Leroy Kirkland, Pearl Woods and James. The song had so many remixed versions by several artists including Cazzette, Skrillex, W&W and many more.
Many people out there consider Levels to be Avicii’s greatest track. And Levels opened the door for many EDM artists on the rise at the time by introducing the main elements of progressive house to pop music.
After a months, the official video for Levels came out. The best bit of all was the track’s kooky video clip, which featured some hilarious dance moves.
In 2012, Levels was nominated for the best dance music video and best chorography at the MTV music video awards and was nominated for the Grammy award for the best dance recording of 2013.
This track climbed the top 40 charts again in 2018, after the death of the legend Avicii.
