Last week, before the final decision, Ultra Music Festival canceled the agreement and decided to move to a new home. But yesterday, the tables have change again. So now, it looks like Ultra Music Festival might headed to Miami Beach. City commissioner Ricky Arriola is proposing that the city enter negotiations to host it at Lummus Park in 2020.
Lumas Park is a beach side location and got 74 acres and it stretches from 5th to 15th Streets. This is twice the size of Byafront park.
But no matter what, there is always some issues to deal with. Spring Break is also take place in March and last year, it was raucous. And Miami Commissioners thinks that having Ultra on Miami Beach will be the answer and it’s a Superbowl for them in terms of economy.
John Deutzman, the co-founder of the Miami Beach Crime Prevention and Awareness Group, is another strong proponent of the idea.
“I’ve been really strong that we need an idea to make sure that we have a big event that’s so big and so attractive that we displace the chaos and violence of Spring Break,” Deutzman said. “It’s actually the entire month of March which I call March Madness. The whole month was a mess.”
The meeting item regarding Ultra Music Festival‘s potential move to Lummus Park in Miami Beach is set for 5:00 PM on Wednesday, May 22nd.
