The chaos continues. Couple of weeks back, Ultra closed the agreement with Miami city council and said they will be heading to Lummus Park. While Homestead City Council approved them to run the festival until 2.00 a.m. , City of Miami Beach Commission has voted 5-2 against moving to Lummus Park.
On the evening of Tuesday, May 21st, the Homestead City Council approved a 10-year contract and extended hours for the festival that would begin with its 2020 edition.
The meeting with City of Miami Beach Commission took place couple of hours later and they don’t like Ultra moving to Lummus Park.
There is always something got in to the way when everything going fine.
Ultra Miami brings around 2$ millions to the city as the fee, officials have changed their tune. According to the Miami Herald, commissioner Keon Hardemon said,
“It just reminded me of being in a relationship, then breaking up with someone that you’re not ready to stop dating.”
Ultra is one of three large-scale events to leave the city in the past 14 months. Further discussion on letting Ultra moving back to downtown will be arranged on May 27th.
