We all knew ZEDD and Matthew Koma for their mid blowing collaborations, Spectrum and Clarity. Both songs ended up hitting charts and winning awards. But it seems like Mathew Koma didn’t had the respect he deserves.
Recently on Instagram, Matthew shared a note about ZEDD saying that he (ZEDD) intentionally minimizing his (Mathew) role in several of their songs together.
Here are some of the things Mathew highlighted.
- ZEDD giving interviews about “the lyrics he wrote” (i wrote every single melody and notes) with no mention of my name, without paying for singing on Spectrum until 2 or 3 years fighting for a fee.
- Him producing a song I wrote called ‘Suitcase’ for my album then not allowing me to release it.
- After winning a grammy for Clarity, Mathew wasn’t invited for it. (so shamed though. Felt so sad writing about this if these are true.)
- Mathew wasn’t invited for the documentary premiere of “The Making Of ZEDD” when every other collaborators are invited.
Those are some of the things Mathew mentioned but there is a whole list of these. I felt so bad writing about these things. Being this much neglected and disrespect, not good. We all knew ZEDD as a humble guy but with these things, I kinda doubt it now.
I could make a way bigger list of DJ’s I worked with who made me feel valuable and treated me with mutual respect. Some seriously great people in that world who I’m so grateful to have met. – Matthew Koma
At the time writing, ZEDD has not responded to Matthew Koma but we are expecting a soon reply from him because this is way beyond what his fans expected.
